Programs

Unlike most Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu schools, at our academy we work in accordance with your needs. Whatever your goals, our job is to provide a class that is fit for you to help you attain your objective. Whether you want to became a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu champion or just want to get in shape, we are here to assure you will reach your goals while you have a lot of fun rolling around. You will train under the close supervision of a certified instructor who will be constantly evaluating your progress on the mats to guarantee you the best results.

Marcelo Cavalcanti has over 18 years of experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and has developed a curriculum with a large variety of drills and techniques that allow a better evaluation of the student’s progress. To optimize the learning process, students are taught in separated groups in accordance with their skills and experience. The curriculum was designed to help students at all levels to achieve the best result for their time and effort.

KIDS CLASSES

The Kid’s class offers a fun, friendly and safe environment for your children. We work to develop the physical skills necessary to perform Jiu-Jitsu techniques and understand the applications of leverage. The classes are conducted under very close supervision of a certified instructor with many years of experience in training, teaching and competing. Kids will have a chance to develop a sense of discipline, respect and confidence. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes are also strongly recommended to increase awareness, physical conditioning, flexibility and self-esteem.

  • Little Tappers kids BJJ class
    • For children 3-5 years of age. Get your kids started on the right track to success in athletic competition. Classes are held twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00-4:50pm
    • Classes are taught my Marcelo and at least two assistants at any given time, ensuring your child gets the supervision and instruction he/she needs.
  • MMA kids
    • Class is held once a week on Mondays from 5-6pm. Teaches proper standing up striking techniques and fundamentals.
  • Kids BJJ
    • For children 7 years of age and older.
    • Classes held twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5-6pm

ADULT / BEGINNER CLASSES

Beginners will initially focus on building a solid foundation in technique and theory with an emphasis placed on practical and efficient self-defense methods. A solid foundation in the basics is essential for progress in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Our beginner’s program provides the student’s the chance to learn all of the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in a dynamic and detailed class. Some of the beginner techniques include: Breaking falls, Take downs, Submissions, Escapes, Holds, and Leverage and balance techniques. The adult classes are open to men and woman.

ADULT / ADVANCED CLASS

Along with the continued development of the applications taught in the beginner’s classes, the advanced class allows you to train with multiple partners of varied skill levels, providing a more developed understanding of techniques and the fighting process.
Intermediate and advanced students will primarily focus on strategy, refining their technique and learning to “flow” with their opponent. As a student acquires increasing technical proficiency and skill, he or she will be allowed to apply their knowledge in free sparring sessions with other students. Sparring builds stamina and endurance while allowing the student to test their technical skills against an uncooperative opponent.

This class focuses on learning and applying all the effectiveness and versatility of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu without the traditional Gi (uniform). No Gi training is very similar to Jiu-Jitsu and is build on all the same principals. The participants do not wear the traditional kimono, therefore the techniques are slightly modified to accommodate inability to hold the opponent by the clothing. The training much like Jiu-Jitsu concentrates on the ground control and submissions. The No Gi/Submission classes are open to all ranks, but a good foundation in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu technique is strongly recommended.

MUAY THAI

Muay Thai is known as “King of the Ring” in kickboxing circles.  These fights feature punches, kicks, elbows, knees, standing grappling and head-butts to wear down and knock out their opponent.  Thai training methods develop devastating power, speed and superb cardio-vascular endurance as well as fighting spirit.  Muay Thai  training as also quite safe thanks to sophisticated pad training that evolved to keep fighters healthy between fights.  Muay Thai has also proven very effective outside the ring and has been embraced enthusiastically by practitioners of a variety of self-defense, sporting, military and law enforcement activities.  Our Muay Thai kickboxing program installs the fundamentals that all fighters will need to succeed at any level.  Classes will employ a variety of workouts to keep students constantly learning and adapting.  The class is a safe and enjoyable way to learn stand-up fighting techniques.

Our kickboxing classes will include:

  • Circuit workouts for conditioning
  • Striking fundamentals
  • Movement in fighting stance
  • Clinch techniques
  • Heavybag and Thai Pad training
  • Situational training (multiple attackers, etc.)

PRIVATE CLASSES

Private classes are a great way to improve your Jiu-Jitsu game. If you are having difficulty executing certain techniques or need to work on a certain aspect of your game, private classes give you an opportunity to take your skills to the next level.

You will learn new techniques appropriately designed to fit your body type and grappling style. The instructor will setup a plan to optimize your techniques and develop a strategy to help you to achieve the best results on the mat.

During your private class you will receive:

  • 1-on-1 instruction
    • All of the attention is focused on you without the distractions of a group class.
  • Technical Analysis
    • The instructor will analyze the way you perform techniques, point out any flaws and work to correct them.
